How we tarp a roof

01

You call, we size it

Tell us what you see or text a photo after the call. We confirm the tarp size and price before we roll.

02

Photos first

We photograph the damage before anything covers it, so you have a clear record.

03

Over the ridge

The tarp starts above the damage and runs over the ridge so rain cannot slip under it.

04

Battens and sandbags

Edges are rolled around wood battens and weighed down with sandbags. No nails, no new holes.

- Roof leaking during the storm?

What to do in the first hour

Stay off the roof while the wind is up. Everything here can be done from inside.

Call to schedule a tarp
  1. Stay safe firstIf a ceiling is sagging or water is near outlets or lights, shut off power to that area and keep people out of the room.
  2. Catch the waterPut a bucket under the drip and towels around it. A small hole in a bulging ceiling spot lets water drain into the bucket instead of spreading.
  3. Move what mattersFurniture, electronics, rugs and papers out of the wet area.
  4. Take photos and videoThe ceiling, the wet area and, from the ground only, the roof. Note the time.
  5. Call us for a tarpWe schedule tarps as soon as it is safe to be on the roof.
  6. Don’t sign with storm chasersCheck that whoever you hire has a Florida roofing license you can look up.

- Hurricane prep for your roof

Before the wind picks up

Most of this takes an afternoon. The roof check is from the ground and the attic. Don't climb up.

Emergency tarping questions

How much does an emergency roof tarp cost?

Small tarps are $400, medium $750 and large $1,200, installed. We confirm the size with you by phone before we come out.

Does the tarp cost count toward my repair?

Yes. If we do the repair or replacement, the full tarp price comes off that bill.

Do you nail the tarp to my roof?

No. We hold it down with wood battens and sandbags, so the tarp does not add new holes to your roof.

Will a tarp hold through a tropical storm?

A tarp run over the ridge and battened down is built to keep rain out until the permanent repair. If a band loosens it, call us.

Can you tarp during the storm?

Not while the wind is up. We schedule tarps as soon as it is safe to be on the roof.

What areas do you cover?

Lake County and nearby Central Florida, including Eustis, Mount Dora, Tavares, Leesburg, Clermont and The Villages area.
