Florida Roofer License Check

Verify any Florida roofing contractor's license through the official DBPR — and learn exactly what to look for. Storm-chasers count on you not knowing this stuff.

Step 1 — type and we'll route you

Enter license # or company name

We auto-detect what you typed. License numbers start with CCC, CGC, CRC, or RC followed by digits — anything else we treat as a name.

We submit your search directly to the official Florida DBPR system. The results appear on DBPR's website in a new tab — that's the source of truth for license records.

Step 3 · Read the result

What to check on the
DBPR record

DBPR's site is ugly but it's the source of truth. Once your search loads, here's exactly what to verify before you sign anything.

Status
Must read "Current, Active." Anything else (Inactive, Null, Suspended, Revoked) = walk away.
License Type
CCC / CGC / CRC = full statewide. RC = registered to a single county only — confirm your county is listed.
License Number
Match it to what they gave you. If it's different, you have a problem.
Primary Address
Should be a Florida address you could drive to. Out-of-state = storm-chaser tell.
Date License Issued
How long has this exact entity held a license? Less than a year is a flag, especially post-hurricane.
Expiration Date
A license that expired 30 days ago can't pull permits. Check this carefully.
Discipline / Complaints
Click through. DBPR shows formal discipline. Some entries are paperwork; some are disqualifying.
Qualifying Agent
The named licensee on the company's license. If they don't work there anymore, the license might be invalid.

🚩 Red flags

See any of these? Walk away.

License is "Inactive", "Null and Void", "Revoked", or "Suspended"
Walk away. Hire someone else, immediately.
License has been issued less than 12 months ago
Ask why. Storm-chasers spin up fresh entities after a hurricane.
Out-of-state primary address on the DBPR record
Common storm-chaser tell. Ask for a local Florida address you can drive to.
License type is "RC" (Registered) but they're working outside the registered county
They legally can't. Verify your county is on their record.
Disciplinary actions visible on the DBPR record
Read every entry. Some are minor, some are disqualifying.
Refuses to give you their license number when asked
Hard pass. A real Florida contractor leads with their license #.
Script — before you sign

Six questions to ask any roofer

  1. 1What's your DBPR license number? (Should start with CCC, CGC, CRC, or RC)
  2. 2Is the address on your license your actual office? Can I drive there?
  3. 3What's your workers' comp insurance policy number? Liability?
  4. 4Will you pull the permit, or are you asking me to pull a homeowner permit?
  5. 5How long have you been licensed under this exact entity?
  6. 6Can you give me three Lake County customers I can call who you finished work for in the last 6 months?

If they hesitate or get defensive on any of these, that tells you everything. Real Florida contractors have these answers ready.

Why results open in a new tab

DBPR is the source of truth

We submit your search directly to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (myfloridalicense.com). DBPR doesn't publish a public API, so we can't display results on this page — but we can route your search to their system, and the result loads on their official site.

That's actually better for you: DBPR is the source of truth, and seeing the data straight from them — not from us in the middle — means no one can fudge it. Our job is to teach you what to look for once you get there.

Or skip the homework — get a quote from a verified Lake County roofer.

We'll come look at your roof free of charge. Licensed (CCC1335465, CGC1538852), insured, and yes — we'll show you the DBPR record before you ask.
